18 to 20 year old OTR drivers

Should a person under 21 years of age be able to drive over the road? This is another hot topic that is moving forward in trucking. For many years a person could get a CDL if they were at least 18 to 20 years old. But they could not cross they state lines. Does this man sense> Think about this, a driver that is 18 years old could be licensed in the state of Texas. He could pick up a load in El Paso and take it all the way to the Louisiana/Texas state line but could not lawfully take the load to say Shreveport a few miles across the line to deliver it. Thats right he could drive about 900 miles one way but could not drive another 20. Another example to compare is a driver in New Jersey could pick up in Edison and drive 70 miles to the PA State line but can not drive into Easton PA? Think about how crazy that sounds, the Texas driver can drive 900 miles one way but the New Jersey driver is limited to 70 miles one way, thats just plain nuts. This law is in need of an adjustment at the minimum. Tune in and list to the episode called Detention Pay & 52 Humans In A Trailer.
