Cameras can also warn
Ones of the things a camera can do is sound off alarms. A camera set up the correct way can measure distance and know when an object is approaching or is in the way. It can sound an alarm to alert a driver thus avoiding most dangers in the future. In the future perhaps a camera will also come with a voice that can help guide a driver thru a safe trip.
The pros and cons
Future Semi Trucks No Mirrors. The pros and the cons are as follows. The pros are obvious. They will make it easier on a driver that at one time had to monitor his mirrors every 5 to 10 seconds. The con is failed systems. Mirrors have a high percentage success rate as far as always being there and giving off a reflection. Bottom line the mirror has always lived up to what it is designed to do. The failure always comes from human error, an object getting in the way like frost or something that arrises unexpectedly or simply it was not angled to provide the correct line of sight. But for the most part a mirror as pretty much saved its purpose well. The failure on the cameras can be much bigger. A computer ship failure, power failure or just some unknown virus getting into the system can make us wish we still had the mirror mounted on the vehicle. Suggestion for the beginning of this new venture? Get magnetic mirrors just in case there is a failure haha! So future semi trucks no mirrors can and will get interesting.
The Boot
Many truckers have found themselves waking up to a new nightmare forming in the industry. Parking lot pirates are like so called Ambulance chasers. These people wait on unsuspecting truckers that are tired and pull into parking lots that a semi truck is not suppose to be on. Many times a parking lot with a hidden “No Semi Truck Sign”. Waiting for the trucker to either fall asleep or go into the store to get supplies the pirate or scumbag with a semi truck boot will leap into action and like a coward sneak up to the rig and put the boot on. When the trucker discovers this device he is forced to pay huge dollars to be released. The future is not looking good for these pirates as they are close tp getting their asses kicked by many truckers.
