A Horrible Story. Some time ago a semi truck crossed the median on an interstate in Indiana. The truck his a college van carrying students and staff. The death of 5 people was bad enough but that isn’t where the storied ended.
Two young ladies and two family would have their lives changed for ever in a twist of fate from the accident. At the scene of the wreck, victims were being identified. Two girls with similar features were victims. On that crazy night, a mistake would be made that would have an impact on the girls families forever.
Whitney Cerak was the student first thought to be killed in the accident. Laura VanRyn was thought to be still alive was identified as Cerak. It would be a month til the families would realize the young lady they buried was buried with the wrong name and that she was still alive. Tragedy would befall on the Vanryn family when they also found out that the young girl in the hospital they were caring for, was someone else’s daughter. Stay off the Railroad tracks
When you are picking up a trailer, please make sure your landing gear is wound all the way up. This may seem like something obvious but there is a growing number of drivers getting hung up on high railroad tracks. If you are pulling an RGN trailer, please know how high you can clear. If your trailer has a belly box underneath it, this also can get hung up
More advice? If the railroad crossing arms have come down and are behind you and in front of you. This means you are sitting on the tracks. Put it in gear and break through the crossing arms. Better on your resume are broken cross bars than getting hit by a freight train. A Horrible Story
