A semi-truck traveling at 55mph, travels approximately the length of a football field in 5 seconds. This includes the goals. Sam Hicks took his eyes off the road for 8 seconds. He was traveling at 63mph. His truck struck and killed Robert Bursik, 54.

Hicks is serving his sentence of 4 years and regrets it every day. His story can be found on YouTube. Sam tells the story from his prison cell. Lives have been changed for ever.

Sam said “I dod not think anything would happen” when he made the choice to look at a text from his girlfriend. By the time he looked up, it was too late. Sam’s rig was right at the point of impact. His truck hit Roberts car so hard, that he went up over Roberts vehicle. Robert was killed.
