Trucking-News with Ruthann 11-11

Trucking-News with Ruthann this week is about Hair Follicle testing and much more. Did you know that trucking companies could be forced to do random and pre employment drug screens via “hair follicle”? Thats right, the law is changing and truck drivers that smoke weed even in legal states could be in jeopardy of failing a drug screen. Most testing today if done with a urine sample but is looking to change in the near future. Currently it is up for a signature in Washington and then its on.

What does this mean for legal pot smokers? There are states that allow the recreational conception of marijuana. So how does this stack up to a law that will trace back up to 90 days for the detection of illegal drugs? If a driver smokes weed legally in the prior 90 days before a “hair follicle” drug screen. Is it lawful for a company to terminate said driver for something he/she has done legally? This is sure to work its way into a court room for what we are sure will be a landmark battle over rights.

Can a test be developed that will determine if a driver is impaired with THC the active drug in marijuana? Will the government come up with a test to determine when the pot was consumed? Only time will tell where this new issue that has risen will end up.

Carl from survivor is still on the show after 7 straight weeks. Wouldn’t it be nice if a trucker were to win this long aired tv show? Only 13 weeks to go and survivor could have its first trucker winner.
